Research.
Substantial research shows that companies with a diverse workforce have a higher capacity for innovation. We believe that technology and innovation will be key to the future growth of our industry.
Numbers.
Numbers show that of the construction workforce, 30% are Hispanic or Latino, 10.9% are women, 6% are Black or African American, , and 2% are Asian. Numbers and quotas only tell a small part of the Diversity story, which is an oversight for most organizations in our industry. We strive to incoporate equity, inclusion and accessibility by partnering with our allies to build a project strategy.

Sheila UrbanChief Executive OfficerSheila was born and raised in Chicagoland's construction industry through her family business. Her dream is to empower the people and businesses that work with SHEcon to leave a legacy of goodness in our world.
She named the company 'SHEcon' to breakdown gender bias and challenge assumptions about career advancement in construction. Sheila has her MBA from DePaul University and her undergraduate degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Sheila is a mother to twins and a wife to a Union worker. She is a mentor to young professionals in the industry and invests her time in the academic advancement of our future workforce. |
